I if it is just written as    $$-7^2$$     it means    $$-1*7^2=-1*49=-49$$

so

$$-7^2=-49$$

 OR

$$1+\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{4}+\frac{1}{8}+\frac{1}{16}....$$

This is a Geometric Series,     a=1, r=1/2 = 0.5

$$S_\infty=\frac{a}{1-r}=\frac{1}{1-0.5}=\frac{1}{0.5}=2$$

So they both have exactly the same value  

I had to add  $$0x$$   or it wouldn't graph properly.
