You are very welcome
Thanks Hectictar,
I have been playing around with modular arithmetic lately,
It will take me a while to get my head around this.
I am not asking for more explanation, (not yet anyway) it is just a compliment.
Of course I caught your mistake. The answer was supposed to be in minutes.
It would hardly take a train 40 minutes to go through a one mile tunnel !
YOU must learn to always do sensibleness checks!
That is right but what are the units? Do you have to do a conversion?
How many minutes after the front of the train enters the tunnel does the back of the train exit the tunnel?
I am really pleased that you are interacting with me Noobguest. You will learn much better and make a better impression that way!
no
speed = distance divided by time (not multiplied by)
linear relationships graph as lines.
Non linear relationships don't.
The back of the train (and therefore the whole train) has to travel 1+1/8 miles = 1.125 miles
So
Speed = 45m/h
Distance=1.125miles
find time.
The formula is
speed = distance / time
So you should be able to work it out from there.
Ok that is a good enough reason.
I should not have mentioned it anyway. :)
Did you do the multiplication as I told you too or did not want to do any of the working or thinking for yourself?
Why did you vote my answer down Hectictar?
Do you think people should be spoon fed all their answers?
Is a good hint worse than no answer at all?
I am not cross, I am just disillusioned with the site in general.
