If you lodge an error can you please give all relevant information that you can think of.
Where you are in the world - the city or the country - is often very important information.

I just worked out how to make an empty box of various horizonal size easily in LaTex.
This is not a recommended method, but other methods that I have tried here have not worked.
This coding is really simple. Just put letters inside

Very interesting question. No high level maths required.
This question was posted a couple of days ago.

I think it is really interesting. It looks much more difficult than it really needs to be.

Some guidelines for question askers.
Please note:
1) Ask only one question per post.
2) When asking a question talk about what you have tried for yourself. Then people will take you more seriously and will be more able and willing to help.
3) If you get an answer

How do I convert a mixed number to a fraction?
Say we use 2 and 3/4
Draw some circles to represent cakes.
Now cut them all into quarters.
lightly colour 2 and 3/4 cakes.
How many quarters have you coloured? If you did it correctly the answer is 11. So you have 11 quarters OR 11/4
so 2 and 3/4 = 11/4
Without a picture you would say (2*4 +3)/4 => (8+3)/4 => 11/4

mthmn wrote:What two numbers add to -20 and when multiplied equal -100?
Let the 2 numbers be x and y
x+y=-20
xy=-100 => y= -100/x Substitute this back into the first equation
x + -100/x = -20
multiply both sides by x
x^2 - 100 = -20x
now take it all to one side and sovle it as a quadratic equation.

THERE ARE 8 SWITCHES 2 ARE DEFECTIVE, IF I SELECT 2 SWITCHES AT RANDOM AND TEST THEM. WHAT IS THE PROBABLITY THE SECOND SWITCH IS DEFECTIVE GIVEN THAT THE FIRST IS DEFECTIVE
Well, there are 7 swiches left and one is faulty so probability that the next one is defective is 1/7

What do you want to do with this
do you want to expand and simplify?
do you want to get rid of the negative indice?
It does = 2(x-u) / e

Aaron has a data allowance of 200MB a month, and facebook used 10MB of data per hour. How many minutes each day, on average can Aaron spend on face book without going over his data limit (answer to nearest minute)
Months can have 30 days or 31 days or 28 or 29 days. So, you are not going to get accuracy to 1 minute unless you specify which month (I'll use a 30 day month)
10*20=200
therefor 10MB per hour = 20 hours per month
20hours /30days = 2/3 on an hour each day = 2/3*60 minutes each day =>
