They might mean cents/mile

Like

Sam uses his his car for work.  He gets reimbursed 55.5c/mile.  how much reimburement will he get if he drives 103.9 miles?

Ans: 

$$$\frac{55.5c}{mile}\times $103.9 miles\\\\
The miles cancel out leaving\\\\
55.5*103.9 cents$$

$${\mathtt{55.5}}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}{\mathtt{103.9}} = {\mathtt{5\,766.45}}$$

5766cents = $57.66

45645165^(5!) x (Pi^2)! - (729.24!)^6 + 3(234! - 222!) -(34!^3)^(6!) =

$$({{\mathtt{\pi}}}^{{\mathtt{2}}}){!}$$  makes no sense to me.    I can stick my tongue out too      

5 squared is 25         $$5^2=5\times 5 = 25$$

so

square root of 25 is 5        $$\sqrt{25}=5$$

Square and square root are opposites of each other.

If you type it into the calc it is sqrt(25)  You need the brackets

$${\sqrt{{\mathtt{25}}}} = {\mathtt{5}}$$

Hey Ninja, after all that great effort aren't you going to change it back to a mixed numeral?

anyway I am going to take a differerent route. 

$$\frac{1}{4}-12\\\\
=\frac{1}{4}-11\frac{3}{4}-\frac{1}{4}\\\\
=-11\frac{3}{4}\\\\$$

Editing answers to make them correct is good but if you think someone may have seen your wrong or different answer you should state that an edit has been done. (Takahiro did this)  

Otherwise people get confused - they think that they have been seeing things.

Remember:

Some Old Hags,         Sin=Opp/Hyp

Can't Always Hide,     Cos=Adj/Hyp

Their Old Age.           Tan=Opp/Adj

You have adj and hyp so the ratio is Cos.

Now if you want to find an angle you must use inverse trig. That is  $$Cos^{-1}$$  but the Web2 site calc does not have that.  Arc tan is exactly the same thing!  So use acos  

acos(adj/hyp) = acos(13/23)

You were right up to 

a-4=-1

now add 4 to both sides

a-4+4=-1+4

-1,0,1,2,3,4,5,  They are the numbers on my invisable number line.  Start at -1 and go 4 places in the positive direction.   You will get to  -1,0,1,2,3,    

a=3

Its a bit tricky but you divide by 10 OR multiply by 1/10
