This question makes no sense.

If 7x-4y=1 and 5x+3y=52 then x-y=???????

This is a bit of a strange question but here goes.

Well if you add these together you get

7x+5x-4y+3y=1+52

12x -y = 53

11x+x-y=53

x-y=53-11x

No this is a different site that CPhill has given you. 

2x^2 -5 = 7 - 3x

$$\\2x^2 -5 = 7 - 3x\\
\mbox{add 3x and subtract 7 from both sides.}\\
2x^2+3x -5-7 = 0\\
2x^2+3x -12 = 0\\\\
\mbox{Now a=2, b=3, and c=-12}\\$$

now use the quadratic formula to solve it. Here it is
