Set it up like an addition problem
3x+2y=12
5x-2y=4
-------------
8x=16
x=2
Substitute 2 back into either of the two equations
3(2)+2y=12
6+2y=12
2y=6
y=3
OR
5(2)-2y=4
10-2y=4
-2y=-6
Same either way
X=2
Y=3
