Most calculators have a negative key that is separate from a minus key.

The calculator at this site, however, uses the same key for both.

8 x 1/2  =  4

(1/2)^2 - 4  =  1/4 - 4  =  1/4 - 16/4  =  -15/4

Now, you have:  (4) / (-15/4)  =  4 x 4/-15  =  - 16/15                   (To divide, multiply by the reciprocal.)

The answer is  -16/15  not  -15/16

-2  =  -2/1

-2/1 x 4/3  =  -8/3           (multiply the two numerators together  -2 x 4  =  -8  and multiply the two                                                         denominators together  1 x 3  =  3)

As a mixed fraction, it is  -2 2/3

If the problem is 2.3436 x 10^60, then there are 5 significant digits, each of the digits of 2.3436 is significant; count the number of significant digits in the number, not in the exponent.

If the problem is 2.3436 x 60, then there is only 1 significant digit. The number with the fewest number of significant digits wins and 60 has only 1 significant digit because zeros at the end of a number do not count, unless you are specifically told that they do.

It does have a radius which is a line segment from the center of the circle to any point on the circle.

The word "radius" also refers to the length of that line segment.
